There are ample news items about the death of Mr Szeto Wah in Hong kong on the 2nd January 2011. A simple google will give you a lot of results in english and chinese about the topic. (Wikipedia link) Mr Szeto Wah is most notable for his early Hong Kong Teachers’ Trade Union lobby, his constant pressure on CCP Communist Government in Beijing to stop denying the atrocities of Tiananmen Massacre & other ongoing human rights violation. Most recently his founding organisation Hong KOng Alliance was extremely active in the lobby effort to Free the Nobel Peace Laureate.
So it is not with a sense of sadness that I write this article but rather with a sense of heartfelt respect and more importantly; a sense of continuity.
I do not believe we are saying good bye to Mr Szeto Wah’s life-work, rather we are in the process of greeting his LEGACY. An uncompromising willingness to support Human Rights & Civil liberties; regardless of the size of the oppression or the power of the bullies.
I am not a great Poet in Chinese, but let us consider this excerpt from a poem by a student of Szeto Wah’s, Anna Cheung :
我只想真心告訴你,我和許許多多的人,實在捨不得你!
Still, I want to tell you, countless numbers cannot spare your spirit!
我們都是自私的,我們希望你永遠常在;
Perhaps we are selfish to ask for your Eternal presence,
我們喜歡聽你講故事,我們希望學習你所教導的。
We want to hear your tales, learn from your spirit,
你現在走了,但我不會和你說再見的。
Though you have left (physically), we do not say farewell.
因為我們有天會再見,我會告知你:
When we meet in the eternal here-after, I will tell you:
香港有民主、中國有民主、六四平反了。
The people of Hong kong obtained Democracy, as did those in China,
We succeeded. Peacefully we conquered the oppressive forces that created “Tian an men Massacre”.
** Since I cannot put it better than Ms Cheung, instead of running to the media to hop on the band wagon voicing “crocodile tears of concern” while secretly enjoying the idea that a “thorn in Beijing CCP government’s side” was gone. I will instead help all those who continue his “Legacy” in the future to come.
The only thing I can say is that on his Memorial day service, happening in Hong kong & New York:
Greetings from California! I’m bored at work so I decided to check out
your site on my iphone during lunch break.
I enjoy the info you present here and can’t wait to take a
look when I get home. I’m surprised at how quick your
blog loaded on my phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G ..
Anyhow, fantastic blog!

Thank you. Szeto Wah was able to help a lot of the Tiananmen student protestors escape Chinese Communists Deathcamps because of the Global Media…now they are all to busy being nazi collaborators to the Money-bank of Beijing’s human rights violation…even the BBC keeps saying they don’t notice any communism in China…yes…becauseTories just placed a massive advertising contracts in Commie China for tourism…because england is broke and wow…they need our money so they better make themselves very “white and british” to perform some circus for us “little yellow people”…..meanwhile….Nobel Peace Laureate rots in a death camp and DAvid Cameron is “ooookaaay” with that ….cos Liu probably was a terrorist anyway! hahahaha. I could go on…but I can’t be bothered…all I can say is….Karma Bites and lets watch how hard it bites! 🙂

You read my thoughts! You seem to know something about human rights so no doubt you know what has happened to Bradley’s Trial and don’t need wikileak to tell you. But just in case here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjZ_GojUEac
So you wrote the ebook about it or something? I believe that you just could do with a bit of wiki to push it a little bit, however other than that, that is wonderful blog about Chinese human rights. An excellent read.
From Cecilia: Fine! here, have a wikileak bunker! I bet you he stole the design from Monash! lol. It looks like a good day at the basement of the Union building…a very good day! I note that for some reason our generation of Monash-Melb lot have this obsession with white bookshelves…I have no idea why? I have a theory, it has something to do with all the old stuffy brown Oak shelves that we had to study with. lol. Everytime I see those Brown Chesterfields, all I wanted was a bit of Shiny Chrome and minimalism
ie. Brown= Loads of reading you have to do: White = you had time to run down to Ikea !
*** Seriously, I think it was wrong that they excluded evidence re: torture in Bradley Manning’s case. So thank you for sharing!
