Its not the “colour of our skin” that makes us beautiful…this is not about Look-ism either!

Hey, seriously…the reason why I put up this Myheritage post is not because I see myself as so amazingly 86% like Sammi Cheng or that I reckon Naomi Campbell is trying to copy me and only gets it right 75%! That’s a joke! I couldn’t give a rat’s arse about Celebrity culture.

I admire each & everyone of these women for their ability to develop looks, beauty & wisdom! Healthy, Wealthy & Wise!

It takes a lot more than a pretty face & a nice set of boobs & legs to make it in the Creative Industry. Each one of them had to work hard, work smart and make the most of what they were given in life! I like that and I can’t stand haters who go around exploiting their fame to get reflected glories in their own mediocre lives. I think there is a  celebrity culture but people buy into the “spin” and forget what is amazing, intelligent, stunningly beautiful, hard-working and “real” about these women that I’m suppose to look like according to the percentages!

What I do like about this way of doing “so, who do you look like?” is that it Shows you very clearly how we do look-alike no matter what race we belong to! Of course I’m more likely to have the highest % of look-alike with Sammi Cheng. That makes sense! She is Hong Kong Chinese-Cantonese. So am I, by geneology! But I noticed that my next look-alike was not according to geographic regions, it is Tea Leoni. I liked that because she is definitely not from the chinese world and she is ironic and a UNICEF goodwill embassador to boot! I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of her movies  but I like this quote she made:

“” Not to sound like a whore, but I’ve been with…I’ve worked with…some very attractive men.Nicolas Cage…Al Pacino…Ben Stiller…and Woody Allen“.

I like that! She is funny! I like a woman who ironically uses the word “whore” in a  post-modern feminist way while describing “attractive men”  beyond terms of classic Male Model good-looks but in terms of their charisma, humour, intensity & talents! I’m totally into that! But of course given the option, I’m okay with male models too! 🙂

Naomi Campbell, Kareena Kapoor, Lalaine, Brenda Song, Kate Hudson & Kristin Kreuk; they are all ladies with an attitude!

I like the fact that this little fun exercise showed me I have more features in common with Naomi Campbell than Brenda Song! Who would have guessed? Maybe when we get past the color of our skins and just look at the face of the person,  even on a visual level we may be more similar to a member of another race than to our own? Wow, that’s a radical thought? 🙂 Not really!

It does  show how often the world looks in terms of the color of one’s skin! If I set up this exercise and asked people to line up who I’m most  likely to “look-alike” with, my guess is that it will definitely be  Sammi & Brenda first, but definitely Tea Leoni and Naomi Campbell, last! Try it! I’m a betting woman!

I think it is in the willingness to see the details, beyond “race” that the beauty of women across this planet can be “bridge building”. I’m a realist. Some women will always be considered more attractive than others. Call it nature! Call it culture! Call it patriarchal suppression..whatever…..I don’t deny the disparity! What I have a problem with is a certain school of feminism that says, “WE all have to pretend all women are equal as all people are theoretically born equal.”

To that bit of rhetoric that refuses to acknowledge individual variances in humanity that makes us all unique, I cannot put it any better than Mr George Orwell:

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others“, and “Four legs good, two legs better!”

Lol. Get over yourselves! If you look at nuances and details enough, it is both Subjective and Objective….

But of course, science fails to understand what makes something beautiful. If you look at the theoretically beautiful person…in fact she is so bland…she doesn’t look anything like anyone that would appear in Movies…maybe Tv series? I don’t know. 🙂

I like how Leach Hochman discussed the bias and that is a terrible thing…Like racism, I suppose…still…it seems like it is more fun to be pretty. lol.

But like Leach’s philosophical suggestion: That beyond any religious affiliation, as an artist, I am a true believer of “The Sublime” which transcends the polarity of many paired opposites like beauty/ugly, good/evil, black/white, strong/weak and most important masculine/feminine.
