About Cecilia.W.Yu 余詠詩

Cecilia W Yu 2015

Cecilia’s art is touring Japan since 2010, seen at the United Nations Climate Change Summit COP15, Cairo Opera House and prestigious art venues, festivals like Edinburgh Arts Festival and events like Monanco Art Fair. Developing Calligraphy-Graffiti fusion art & design got her a sponsorship to Master-class with artists from the Academia di belle Arte, Firenze, 2014. Worked with the Global Graffiti Scene through her 2013-ongoing partnership with Kel1st in New York which links her fine art work to hip hop nation in a very unusual way! Cecilia has her own annual culture events at the Bombed Out church in Liverpool, appearing in “art jams” with many brilliant musicians famous for their Liverpool sounds.
An MBA in Sustainable Media Joint Ventures, background in PR (e.g Nobel Peace Laureates campaigns) & Marketing (e.g London Fashion Week), Macro-economics research (e.g Gorbachev Foundation, Moscow).
Cecilia has about 30 different sustainable development projects around the world and sits on the Boards and Advisory Boards of a few UN and UNICEF awarded charities and social enterprise; she is all about Grass-root global empowerment and listening to glocal solutions!
Finalist in the Miss Asia-International (Australia) Pageant 國際華裔小姐競選, she enjoyed work as a model and appeared in Australian TV while she studied media and law as an undergraduate. She got a bursary scholarship to study International law in Uppsala Sweden; later she also studied fashion at St. Martin’s College, London.
Wrote in the Far East to a daily 1.2million distribution. www.ceciliayu.com re-blogged to 20million inside China and quoted by C-Span.Far Eastern ambassador for the New York based network: Voices of Women Worldwide.TV
“Pro-compassion” in every aspect.

She Loved her travels to interesting places like researching at the Gorbachev Foundation and Tsinghua University in Beijing, trekking in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, Studying spiritual texts at the great Boudhanath stupa in Nepal and horse-riding in Annapurna, way up in the Himalayas. She has visited 60+ countries in the world and the list is still growing….

Cecilia’s Sustain-Able blog has a no-nonsense take on the madness that is our politicised planet & how messed up censorship, culturally unsustainable policies are! :/ It is okay to use a bit of “black humour” if you are actually doing something to make a difference! lol. Strangely, she got reblogged to 20million when she called someone a Red Sk8nk in 2011 (okay, somebody famous denied Tiananmen Massacre….it wasn’t randomly rude :)…it was in response to a very cruel and nasty remark by a minor Hong kong politician to the victims’ Mothers!)

Hi Cecilia, I found your Lockdown YTT Practice Journal looking up info on Online Yoga School. It looks like you were able to work out some of their missteps regarding diversity and inclusion; would you still recommend them for affordably and conveniently getting a 200hr YTT for someone who already has a pretty extensive practice, education and training in yoga? Thanks! Be well, from a fellow CT ‘yogini’ 🙂

Hi Renee. Yes, I would but I do say that if there’s a problem it is best to insist on discussing issues with Stephanie. It is ultimately her Yoga school. I am doing their 300hrs YTT for the (500hrs YTT Yoga Alliance accreditation) and they really updated the course, working with new guidelines from Yoga Alliance. Stephanie really stepped up and included sections about “Trauma yoga”, “Inclusive yoga”, “positive body image Yoga ” and also “pre-natal yoga” and “yoga for children”. There’s continuous course material updates weekly. A lot of effort has been made since I completed my 200YTT, to keep up to date with the latest Yoga Alliance best practice! I was really impressed! here’s my blog about my 500hrs YTT, I am half way.

      Here’s the link: https://ceciliayu.com/2020/12/27/covid19-lockdown-500ytt-yoga-teaching-diary/

Go, do it! It is worth the investment in yourself since yoga is already a part of your life and work!
Feel free to drop me a line at : info@ceciliayu.com if you want to ask more questions privately.

      Namaste! Cecilia

    Hi Cecilia,
I would like to ask if you could help me out? I am looking for a copyright free version of the Dao De Jing that I could use in a book I am writing. The book is about Qigong and Tai Chi and is geared towards young adults. Do you know where I might be able to find a copyright free version?

The original chinese text is free of copyrights so if you read chinese you can just do your own translation. But if you want to use any translated version there are copyrights you need to sort out. Hope this helps. Cecilia

      Dear Jonathan.

I think there is a limit to what I can do to help as wha tyou have is a civil dispute!

At first I offered to translate thinking there is just cultural disputes…but it was more of a business disagreement.

So I hope it works out, but I saw no benefit to continue the discussion when language was not a problem!

I hope everyone sorts it out as I don’t like Chinese people being discriminated against but I also don’t like it when some tourists (not all of course, but you know the type) think it is okay to behave like certain types of American abroad!

      all the best Cecilia

If this is a travel promotion blog…it is best that you try Lesley Carter’s bucket list s blog as she gets more traffic than mine does.

My blog is more focused on the arts, development, education etc. and more personal experential. If that is what your article pertains to….by all means send it.

But if it is a travel promotion for a business or tour service…I think Leslie’s blog is more suitable?

Hi Jac Linn…first of all…the english is a bit chinenglish….and it concerns me that you talk about the religious relic of Tibetan buddhism’s version of a Papal hat ie. the “white hat” like it is some sort of funny Pope hat you find outside the gift shops of the Vatican….I liked the Jokhang area description…I stayed in the Uighur Muslim quarters when I was there…I think it is good if the site uses more Tibetan version of things and not how we would describe it in chinese….just because unintentionally sometimes in the translation, it can sound like we treat their culture like we don’t care..and I certainly care!…having said that…if Tibetans are selling their own “white hats” as overpriced souvenirs…that is not your fault.

…so goodluck and thank you for showing me your site. 🙂

P.S In case anyone has any doubts…this is where I stand on the Papal issue…lol….but then again “Pope Off” is not my thing as the only one I would ever support is Pope Joan..:)

Sometimes the choice of pope …. is an indicator of where the world’s power will rise next…so my “take” is on the Latino Pope from South America…unless Africa gets more China money or Canada sells more Tar Sands and kill more native first nations to get there…:) I think all those Cardinals really need to rethink their premise for how they vote…then again….I do not work for the Holy See , I’m just some chick with a blog. Angelo. yes of course. Please read the Creative Commons agreement, attribute and link back etc…thank you.

I enjoyed your Travel itinerary. But please at least mention the socio-ecological implication of the train up to the Khampa highlands….China is not exactly ace on this point and as far as I’m concern, I’m not one of a kind…there are millions who do not want a “commie-fication” of diversity inside the borders of China and this includes respecting Tibetan, Mongol, Urdu and many many ethnicities. It is just that when other chinese discuss this, it happens in chinese so unless you speak fluent chinese …you are unlikely to hear about it. English may not be the lingua franca of the future…..the way things are going….especially on the internet…I hope 1.3 billion will be FREE of all commies scumhoes! 🙂 I encourage everyone to travel to Tibet so that they can bear witness to any Commie Scumhoes oppressive cultural imperialism policies….and end the insanity and tragedy that is Self-immolation of monks/nuns (I blame it on oppression which btw makes as much victims out of poor chinese “settlers” who do not in fact want to live in Tibet but were given the choice of a) starving while commie scumhoes landgrab their village withou compensation rendering them homeless or b) commie scumhoes rendering them homeless and torturing their families and them or c) commie scumhoes doing a + b and then sending them to Tibet to live in a climate they really can’t handle! I saw all this when I visited Tibet, I heard their stories….it is not fun to be poor yokels from Sichuan living in Tibet anymore than it is for Tibetans to see the poor yokes from Sichuan…all are unhappy because of the evil that is Commie Scumhoes inhumane policies!).

Hi Cecilia. I saw your fb comment about substance abuse. This film looks at the planting of marijuana seeds with highest $1000 fines for repeat offenders. Habituation is different from addiction with marijuana, it’s not mindfulness! When will the ignorance stop? Marijuana causes blurred vision, slurred ignorance, long term psychosis! Just because it keeps a patient with impaired medical conditions is not a good reason to legalise….there are other pain relief alternative…that is an addict’s excuse!!!

Can u believe there are people using this product to have urban marijuana parties like your disgusting neighbor as if it is a tupperware party? vapemonster.com

One must be clear that marijuana should not be ignored as a substance Abuse. The answer is found in damage to other organs when using marijuana. You can find all this by a professional drug test. Despite schools’ efforts to inform students of the dangers…abusors continue to spread propaganda about its harmlessness! But there is a good reason why we made cannabis prescriptions illegal in the United States.

Respect for your work and position on protecting victims of drug crimes first! They are innocent…not the abusors!!!

Thank you Tranna…you are very well informed unlike me who did not really understand it until another neighbor ( a professional social worker) said his cat looks sick and called the rspca! Disgusting! The poor thing was high and couldnt walk straight and we are still feeding his poor white cat because it refused to go home anymore and hang out in our yard! This lying landlord hid this from us so we would help him to not lose his house as a friend and he took advantage of us like a cheap scum by becoming an Enabler and Codependent to the weed dealer next door, going into denial….so in a way…my landlord is worse and more evil than the guy who is doing this while his 10 yrs old is living with him…that my landlord has a daughter of his own and still turns a blind eye shows his character and integrity as a human being and I can’t see people like this kind of unethical weed-head raising a healthy child!

I am aware that there are many professionals with addictions that hide it in their jobs! I am all for Corporate and Government Drug test, if nothing else…it might save the lives of the children sitting at home dealing with a messed-up Drug Addict as a parent, however functional an addict people like that pretend to be…my work with Griffin Charitable Trust which is an award winning, UNICEF funded project for 10 yrs+ can attest to the fact that the Entire supply chain from production to consumption (no matter what socio-economic background the end-users are) is toxic for children raised in the environment…there is NO WAY of not spreading this kind of negativity when raising a child in one form or another!

It was also shocking to me that recently I came across one of Obama’s fundraisers who actually celebrated how great it was that weed for self consumption at home was approved across some states and saw it as a way to the future of promoting more legalising of the entire Supply chains of drugs. I think people like that are very insular and need to get out of their white picket fence gated communities and take a short-sharp trip to drug farms in Asia, Jamaica and South America to see the kind of damaged lives they are advocating for children over there! If they still feel they can live with that, I suggest they use their own children and grandchildren as drug mules before they decide to sacrifice the lives of children in the developing world for a cheap “hit”. You cannot get me to rant enough against this when I had to get telephone calls from Griffin Charitable Trust’s founder telling me tales of 9 yrs old children, gang-raped and used as drug mules!

Hey Giri, I’ve inboxed you. My old school pal had a bit of a bicker with Banksy when they were way young and no one was “known”. I don’t really know much about street art because it has its own exacting tradition and is a different genre to fine art and I respect that!

So 2008 we did a graffiti-east-west fusion piece being a bit ironic about “Eventually we will all be Middleclass?” in Surrey and that got shown at Climate Forum 09 during COP15 Climate change summit (along with some french performance artist who wanted to turn his intestine into Green salads in a whole Derrida “deconstruction” thing.

Lol. I have inboxed you with the “practical” details now. This is just my thoughts on stuff. Loved the video!

Hi, Neat post. There is a problem with your site in internet explorer, would test this… IE still is the market leader and a huge portion of people will miss your excellent writing because of this problem.

from Cecilia: If you are posting from certain countries, it may be that some of the contents are temporarily blocked cos of your own regional censorship…but usually it comes back in awhile if it is a cache thing from my end. Let me know and I will check it out. Others use IE in other countries. They Have not found any problems. Thanks for letting me know. cheers (CC)

Thank you so much Oystein for this. I will definitely blog the issue! Your vimeo is really useful. I am a big one for human rights around the world and I always welcome intelligent debates & inputs about different issues around the world. As you know I am an avid suporter of Nobel Peace Laureate Liu Xiaobo’s Charter08 because it discusses Civil liberties for everyone living in Asia. Unfortunately this also got him 11 yrs in jail. Please keep in touch on my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/creativefreespeech and thank you, please feel free contact me again via my blog or my facebook page. all the best to you in Norway. 🙂 Cecilia

    Hi Cecilia,

I like the values you’re espousing and the multiple talents you’re applying. My own preference for “culture healing” is at the intersection of popular movements and mass media – journalism and cinema/TV . . . and now WWWeb distribution.

I’d like to communicate with you and explore ways in which we might collaborate to make the world more supportive of human rights and of everyone getting what they need to develop their positive potential.

I’m in the California time zone.

Do you ever travel to the US, especially California?

    Best wishes,
    Fred
