….wild is the wind…creative freedom is the seed….

IASE International Association of Sports Economists Conference at Bayreuth, Bavaria Germany

April 2024: Finally after a decade of “let’s write something about sports & fashion”….Prof. Sebahattin and I finally agreed on 3 things:

i) Sports Fashion is a HUGE ICH.

ii) Fastfashion is evil to the core for Planetary Sustainability!

iii) Past Nobel-winning Economic theories could do with some New Media Reality checks!

So this is what we got so far….as a Sports Economist and a Sustainability Economist registered with IASE.

Title:

The Unsustainable Penalty: When Ai powered Fast Fashion, murders the “living culture” of Sports-based economies.

Maybe those Bavarians in IASE, the German Economists will like it…Maybe they won’t…🤣🤘 What’s #UEFA anyway?

Aimé Fournier Thanks for the Mathematical dialogues….! lol.

May 2024: So it looks like we were picked to do a 10 to 15mins presentation….so does this mean we are all going to look at some #UEFA match somewhere and make intellectual theoretical commentaries about Soccer #Economics? My contribution can only be about what #Fashion the players are wearing ? #joke I like #blackpink ! Is it Fast? Is it Sustainably Ethical? Will what they do “make or break” Soccer as an #ICH? Will #UNESCO care UP TOP? Probably! Not since looking at Tableaux of #Mayans kicking around a bloodied head of their enemies at #ChicenItza have I registered a pulse about Soccer…..#lol…this included actually seeing #Messi and #Rinaldo doing some #UNICEF gigs and finding out who they are for the first time ever?

Nevertheless I support Female Soccer Players…’Cos #SISTERHOOD …PLUS women have a right to gather drunken football hooligans fans too! 🤣🔥🔥

Lets keep it primal…lol.

Good to know it only took “ringing a Nobel” in Physics for EVERYONE to “CTFD” (google it lol.) 😳😂over ONE WORD!

#academic #telenovela

June 2024: Thanks International Association of Sports Economists (IASE) for sending the published book of abstract. I skimmed through it as I only arrived sunrise at Bayreuth….I look forward to hearing the ideas. Sorry I missed the city tour but I will be there for the soft launch, I was very busy at UNESCO event in Dubrovnik so I have lost my voice a little until I get some rest. Thanks for understanding. 💛💛💛😎

(AK), 25th Anniversary Conference of the International Association of Sports Economists (IASE): International Sport Governance: Challenges, Concepts, Case Studies, University of Bayreuth, Germany, pp 95-97

During the Conference (In between all the different presentations): I found an interesting contextual case for all the MiniMes (joke name for my mentees in Africa Youth Union and World Youth Forum)! I did not forget to show them something about Bayreuth and Bavaria that they cannot quite google! This is my example of how Diversity improves Sustainable Tourism through small businesses.

While I was in Bavaria, I took a short drive 20mins out to a small village called Lindenmuhle; it is a cute Bavarian picturesque village at the base of a trekking and skiing area. It consist of a very small centre and only 4 major restaurants; traditional Bavaria, a cafe/bakery, an Italian Restaurant and a very curious Vietnamese place that also served sushi which intrigued me. So I went to try to food because there were ample restaurants in Bayreuth for all kinds of cuisine but the unusal diversity caught my eye ….

It was delicious. The family made the broth for the noodles inhouse, the sushi combined very good German Ingredients and excellent execution by the chef. It was amazing and we had to wait for a table because there were such a great mix of local villagers, other european day trippers and an Asian-Australian like me.

Something about that contrast really facinated me and made me think, “If we do as some UNESCO Chair in Economics of Culture and Heritage projects do and OVER CONTROL cultural curations, we miss out on the genuine diversity of flavours and human cultural exchanges that are typical of ALL Trade routes marking prosperity like the Silk Roads, Spice Trades and even modern trans-national Economics. The market is simply a response to our human thirst for diversity and novelty. I found attempts to create Chinese Porcelain patterns by local artesans within the Opera House that is UNESCO protected for its singular representation of Rococo Baroque German aristocratic lives and history! Just as I saw Swiss Cuckoo clocks in the Last Emperor’s collection of clocks in the Forbidden city in China!

When we try to over curate and control natural TCH and ICH manifestations of Diversity, we are working against our natural curiosity towards diversity and somehow making the world LESS Rich in the process.

For all of you working with your country’s Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage, please consider this important aspects of what small, authentic and diverse businesses can add culturally for all your national places? Lets not repeat the over regulation of 80 & 90s UNESCO policy of turning all sites into Mausoleums and Parks thus undermining the genuine “living culture” that spontaneously gather around sites like the Boudhananth Stupa in Nepal, Morroco’s many labyrinthine Medinas, small flowers stores selling garlands of marigolds outside India’s Taj Mahal etc etc…

There is a balance of Safeguarding and allowing “living cultures” to manifest spontaneously!” 😎💚💚😇

After the Conference: After all the conferences which is not usually my routine, I visited the Nuremberg Trial Law Museum. When I stood in Courtroom 600, it reminds me of why I ever got involved with the United Nations Systems to begin with! #Lestweforget …it is our mission to keep refining and improving on how we can all best safeguard the Human Rights embedded into the UN Sustainable Development Goals #UNSDG#Climatejustice and victims of systemic Globalised Fossil Fuel driven Corporate “criminally culpable” abuse (murdering all lives on the Anthropocene) need their day in court just like the victims of the #Holocaust. Nuremberg Trail was a moment of history that created the #ICC International Criminal Court:

“On 17 July 1998, 120 States adopted a statute in Rome – known as the Rome

Statute of the International Criminal Court (“the Rome Statute”) – establishing the International Criminal Court. For the first time in the history of humankind, States decided to accept the jurisdiction of a permanent international criminal court for the prosecution of the perpetrators of the most serious crimes committed in their territories or by their nationals after the entry into force of the Rome Statute on 1 July 2002.”

29 June 2024: Hi all at IASE, again apologies for posting collected snapshots at University of Bayreuth a little bit late….most of us have gone on to a UEFA game since the conference…sadly I had to watch Germany beat Denmark (2:0) but… at least those two Danes dancing in the rain 🇩🇰🇩🇰 did a very good global marketing for Carlsburg beer worldwide…Denmark should hire them for that…because that seemed to be the ONLY thing people remember of what seemed like a “Water polo” rather than a Soccer game session due to excessive Rain #climatechange! I think my colleague and dear friend Sebahattin Devecioğlu also got to see Turkey 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷 winning the match, so everyone seemed relatively happy…so far! 😂 No matter who wins #UEFA2024 we had a very positive time in #Bavaria #Germany ….Thank you International Association of Sports Economists (IASE) Germany Branch for hosting! 💛❤️🖤😎

October 2024: Of course the whole point of coming to a conference to meet face to face, is that it gave us all a chance to see if there’s anything else in common apart from Economics! For me, it is often a surprise, and it is synergy, when someone I queue up with to get a burger at the Beach party, turned out to be someone who is both an Expert at the Economics of Sports and Performance events Marketing AND an avid Chess player (as well as the unofficial biographer for one or two European Grandmasters who are his friends)! At the conference itself, we never had the time to converse as there were a lot of people and presentations going on, however, in the aftermath, we managed to catch up via social media!

I discovered that over a brief exchange about Western and Eastern Chess. Because of our busy schedules, we finally met on zoom to “talk chess”. In the course of talking about conferences that advertise themselves as being “in” Paris, when they are half way out towards Versailles and a nuisance for the commuters, it dawned on me that I would benefit a great deal from Soren’s expertise and his near photographic memory for every historic western chess games EVER played!

When I published “on the fly” with Kyiv University Sports Economics and Management faculty (where they peer reviewed and edited the journal inside a bomb shelter, Nobel Peace Prize 2022, indeed!), I was not able to complete the “qualitative excavation” of the complex chess commentaries between World chess champion Vishy Anand (India) and Anna Muzychuk in Dubai, for the “game of the century” during World Chess Championship 2021!

During my conversation with Soren, I was able to decipher one or two of the sentences and detailed intertextuality because of his knowledge, so we agreed to “give it a go” in 2025 (obviously after my book chapter in March)! I think this is the true value of conferences, to give Anarchic Academics a chance to step out of “linear” tracks!

So Thanks Prof. Dr. Sören Bär I am glad we finally got the chance to “Talk chess”😎. More to come, as soon as I process a tiny, but important part of my research data in 2020-2022! I am sure it will yield some interesting “stuff”, as you and everyone else keep telling me! Let’s see what it looks like in 2025! 😊

And for those who are interested, although I think most readers will ignore the citations because I know I often do, in the real world!

****** The paper based on the abstract and presentation at the IASE Conference in 2024, will be completed in 2025, Sebahattin and I are on our 2nd draft now! Haha. So Professor Sebahattin must continue to exercise his zen-like patience, and keep nagging, after nearly 10 years of nagging about Sports and Fashion ( injoke lol.) !

Well, thank you to my dear friends for nagging me to publish academically every so often! This was fun!
