As population demographics change, we are all going to be facing a lot of death and dying….what surprises me is that so many are wasting their time…trying to “relive” their youths by sending their prejudices/bigotry out to the next generation and trying to abuse the planet “one more for the road” instead of preparing for certain experience in a dignified way like most ancient cultures that focus on Wisdom would……try this…instead of pretending you are not growing old…The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying (Audio Book) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GTh5L44HF4]
I’ve seen people doing incredible things from the moment they are born to the moment they take their last breathe..and even beyond….what annoys me is that these are not the people the rest of the aging/dying babyboom populations are trying to emulate…quite a lot of them are still trying to be some sort of cross between Elvis/Easy Rider/Donald Trump/Nixon….which is kinda of really Gross! 😦
But possibly not as gross and disgusting as the latest self immolation at the Boudha Stupa of peace in Nepal.

Omg! Tibetan SElf-immolation at the stupa…we all know exactly where this is….and I have my breakfast in that restaurant almost daily…..what happened? What is causing this in Nepal…now? 😦 This is so sad and horrible….it just makes you wonder, given the philosophy of Tibetan Buddhism why more and more monks/nuns are self-immolating in protest?
RIP. I really hope that individuals will value their opportunities as human beings more and spend more time listening to Tsogyal Rinpoche’s book in order to get a more precise and genuine understanding of the esoterica philosophy they are working with, it is for the living and those dying….but no where in Tibetan Buddhism is there an encouragement for others to harm themselves or others in protest. For that reason it is still a peaceful philosophy that respects all sentient beings.
To glorify the act of suicide in protest as some kind of political agenda (pro or against) in order to promote violence in protest, is a disgusting disrespect of human dignity and as such, it is beneath contempt when done by ANY SIDE of the political divide. Everyone should take an active role in being compassionate to those who are at risk of suicides and not to encourage/glorify the violence to promote hatred and ignorance.
May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness;
May all be free from sorrow and the causes of sorrow;
May all never be separated from the sacred happiness which is sorrowless;
And may all live in equanimity, without too much attachment and too much aversion,
And live believing in the equality of all that lives.

Thanks for reblog. Hope all is well. I can’t even remember why I blog this??? But glad you find it useful! Oh that’s right….I like what’s in it as esoteric philosophy and don’t care about the credential of the man who wrote it…cos the wisdom matters and the men are just institutions unless they have greater compassion or else its just spiritual materialism! 🙂

I’d been searching for an audiobook version which hadn’t been completely ruined by advertisements every 10 minutes and thankfully yours is a “clean” version 🙂 Yay!
I had been to the opening of a friend’s first solo art show and was talking to a retired Art lecturer with many connections between Wales and New York. He was familiar with my work and was interested in what I was up to know I had mentioned I had started my MA in ART & Philosophy my interest and attempts at mindfulness meditation, then he told me he was very good friends with Rinpoche who actually wrote the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying and who had also taught the 14th Dalai Lama when they were younger. As you can probably imagine I was blown away by this! Conversations like this just don’t happen in a small working class town in Wales! Lol.

Thanks Alice. I am aware of and have directly experienced sleazy guys in the male dominated institution of tibetan buddhism trying to slut onto women with tantric sex spew. Lol. Dalai lama did a fantastic interview with Kate Wheeler about what we should do about this. You should read it…..it is hilarious of him to put it that way! 🙂 A monk with a great sense of humour is a precious gem!

I am a very badly behaved student of buddhist translation. I take a sensible modern approach to it. My teacher is old school type who walked out of Tibet when Mao invaded. All he got out of me in terms of translation was one 12th century ancient chinese text ( cross checked with the original from sanskrit and secondary tibetan) translated out of me into modern chinese and english. 🙂 But he had a very abusive translator. I kid you not……I have tai-chi slapped that western translator back to kingdom come x2 for being a manwhore publicly. Just pick a country where he can’t sue to do that in if you must! lol.
BTW, these guys that wrote books are usually translating ancient texts from Pali and Sanskrit….no one owns the truth text of the dharma…so if his translation is useful….Use it! I find Tibetan Book of LIving and Dying VERY useful personally. 🙂

Hello. Thanks for this link. As I said…Any evil bastard who abuse his students should just be arrested. But I know that there is a culture of silence so sometimes women just smack them one in self defence! I am okay with that. Sometimes abusive people just need to feel the consequences of their actions.
But pls bear in mind….some jurisdictions it is much much easier to get the bastard arrested than to have to physically defend yourself as many women had to.
I send my best wishes to all the women and victims who were harmed but I am not taking down the link as …as I said…they translated the book from old text so I liked the text and I am comfortable with handing over the names and deeds of ANY abusive teachers and send them to prison asap.

Make sure you do it as soon as possible and record and document all the incidents in full details…then hand it all to the police! There will be others trying to gaslight you….do not be afraid….tell them they will be dobbed in as accomplices if they keep bullying you. Xxxooo Please be safe, be well and send as many abusive Tibetan fake teachers to jail as possible. It is about time Buddhism find all the Ari Goldfield s and #Weinstein and have a #metoo clense!
