3 months and New Moon Muse Circle: Taurus Meditation Altars

 Cecilia’s Commentary: Lol.  Honestly? Eclipse is good…they get to compete and co-exist but it is hard on the bystanders watching the cosmos bicker about the sky.

dear readers, I was away for 3 months on the Greek islands. During this time, far from just being on holiday, I was doing some deep inner work creatively. It was 3 months of being in my art studio where I swam and sat on the beach by day, worked in my art studio and worked on my books (they are not quite ready yet). During this time, apart from socialising with locals and friends from the island, I completely switched off my on-line life. This included my blog and many other things.

The only time I had any contact with anyone online was remotely with a few graffiti artists. The main person of course being Kel1st. We got into a lot of very complex and philosophical discussion almost on a daily basis. Though I do not play well with others, I have to admit that anything I created during that time, probably also had his inputs and artistic energy all over it as well. Our art was morphing and changing and evolving.

I knew there were intense hypes and interest in it. I was actually almost relieved when Banksy’s 30 days silly media stunt, let the cat out of the bag. We gave his “office” a preview of our artists statement (as a professional courtesy along with anyone named in the artist statement, to give them the option to opt out) . Because of Carla’s death, Kel1st and Yu worked on the statement personally and intensely for about a month to get the right balance between Graffiti and Fine art world; simply put, we felt we owe it to Carla’s memory and her family to get the balance right.

So for Banksy to do what he did was an indication of his complete lack of respect for the sanctity (and the suicide) of the lives of all the little people he try to vampire off. I am midly disgusted but figured, what do you expect from someone who lie to the poor by helping the rich politically manipulate them, its definitely not Robin Hood, that’s for sure! Ho-Hum…it is all very boring.

Of course, as professionals we did not expect his people to plagiarise it and see it appear in the UK Guardian with leaked phrases. It is all dated and documented. We could sue but why bother when we have far more important things to do than to deal with an artistically addlepated talentless media prostitute! That was so silly of him to think the world would care! We don’t really know why he would think such a thing?

Surely a Kel1st and Yu statement had no influence on Banksy, afterall it is not as if he has ever heard of either one of us. 🙂 You actually have to be a Graffiti Insider and/or a Fine Art Insider to know our reputation. Banksy is not really there, is he? Of course, he is welcome to the media stunts and the fame…he paid a lot of PR money for it and that is just fab, no? Not really. But we are only interested in the quality of the art so I never noticed him much except for the flip-flop he sold on Groupon, I thought, “Nah, I will stick with my aussie Billabong because of the quality and endurance! 🙂 “

Okay…and Kel1st and his mates tended to use “other people’s money” for their PR…when they do it, which is just fine by me…because I usually borrow other people’s PR. But clearly Brad Pitt preferred to support Style Wars for obvious reasons and all the truly gifted PRs I know in this world are somehow distantly related to me so they are not allowed to charge me money. So…you know…Big B, how much did the bill come to? We could have gotten you a discount. All you had to do was let us know …mate! hehehe. Just kidding because you are such a “graffiti legend and a fine art darhling” hahahahaa. As if!

So in a way I wanted to thank him for letting the cat out of the bag. His silly media stunt pierced a pin-hole in the creative bio-dome that started to resemble a “dome of silence”  Kel1st and Yu created between us; it released some of the intensity and the pressure that was building into a bit of a frenzy. Now, Kel1st and Yu can both relax and just live our creative visions without feeling like there’s anyone or anybody to answer to.

Whereas before, I cannot speak for Kel1st, but I definitely was very concerned about the industry/art world hypes. I try to be as private a person as I can be while still participating in the world in a proactive way. But  I am not good at it. I should also remember to thank King Robbo’s loyal crew; some of the artists (all of them very active, successful and creative in their own rights) there also advised and took some of the stress from our “hot-housing” sessions.

If fine art and world cinema are very small worlds; small families…then Graffiti art world was even smaller in the number of pioneers and insiders that are accessible to the outside world. So again, I was very surprised that Banksy was so weird with our visions and strategies; I suspect slight illiteracy from poor quality PR…you just can’t trust hired help these days, can you B? I am sorry. It’s so hard…

Anyway….

 After months of creative collaboration, the final Kel1st and Yu conclusion was:

“Art is a love that seeks only to realise itself.

Please be patient and let your talent take you to places beyond your current imaginations!”

Lol. Maybe that was the problem….one must trust one’s own talent or else one will end up appropriating what is authentic just to play the media game and pay PRs to do sloppy jobs.

As for my fear of the Media, I cannot allow it to sabotage my artistic journey and what you resist, persist. But I’m sorry, my art just didn’t grow up in the public limelight, like Kel1st did and I will never find the public attention as comfortable as he does. His art attracted global attention effortlessly. He didn’t have to spend money on PR agents to pay for his media attention like Banksy did/does; the world was just naturally attracted to his art.  My art is like a “hot-housed” orchid that tried to break out of a high-end musuem and international exhibiting circuit. Artistically we couldn’t possibly be more paradoxical and in many ways diametrically opposite!

Actually most people can’t really comprehend why we are in partnership? Well, truth is, we don’t know either!  No one knows why! It baffled many of King Robbo’s crews who witnessed this strange fusion.  It just happened organically because the art wanted it to “BE”.

I hope the fine art world and the graffiti art world will be receptive to something new. There are no guarantees. It might work. It might not. Who knows? I don’t!

So to celebrate the journey we took so far and perhaps the journey to come, I  invited a few trusted female friends and made our Altar first in England to the New Moon in Taurus in Scorpio Sun.

We put a little bit of everything in the lives we lived recently into the full moon mandala meditation today. I find this Spiralmuse gathering really helpful for creative people to stay pure and focussed when the world is “rushing” us to conform.

There’s the mayan calender, saraswasti goddess, peace sign, buddha, an old South American native totem symbol, an old Saint symbol from Italy, orchids, purses…a desert rose from Tunisia and of course…from New York…the graffiti art bible…Subway Art, my art stuff and a tibetan singing bowl, a glass of white elephant organic ginger wine in an antique Crystal glass…..I can’t believe the things that came together in this Full Moon Altar…..
