“Genius: one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.” Thomas Edison.
This series is about the 1% in our world who are 100% Genius! 🙂
Well…I’ve always lived by this little bit of advise I got from a Nobel science prize winner I once met in passing from Australia: ” Even if you are arrogant & you decide that 99% of the world are idiots, if you don’t spend your life checking for that 1% in the people you meet, then you are the idiot!”
The reason is if you waste a little bit of time and you check and he/she/the matter you are looking at is the 99%, then all it has cost you is a little bit of time wasted. But if you don’t and you accidentally ignored the 1% with the world-changing, life-affirming, globally empowering ideas and you let that rare opportunity pass you by…..then you are the Biggest idiot! 🙂
This is not about being PC…it is just an in-joke on the famous Thomas Edison quote! It is also just a way of saying: “No, I ‘m not that arrogant and I live by this idea.”
But yes, in this world, I do know many people who are that arrogant sometimes and usually they think they are the 99% Majority thinking because they have the numbers on their side, they are entitled to bully or villify the 1% Genius that in their own minds, they do not understand! I don’t like this style of bullying. You see it in school grounds. You can find it in an office or any place of work. You see it in academia and just about everywhere. I refuse to stop looking. I refuse to marginalise diverse voices & ideas. I will refuse to let others bully away the 1% Genius in my world! It is not okay!
***Lets not get this confused with the slogan being used to talk about wealth distribution globally. I understand the inequity of that. This is a different thing. This is about the humility to accept there are brilliance in the world that takes time to understand and/or even accept that in one’s own limitation, one may not ever FULLY understand. But it is so important to keep trying and keep looking at what “changes” things for the better and not shut your minds because “seemingly” you are the so-called populist majority.
We are talking about 1% Genius; of the world changing, earth shattering, deeply, passionately, irrevocably, undeniably UNIVERSAL kind! 🙂
Let’s hear it for the 1% Genuis : Here’s to the crazy ones………they change things………they push the human race forward…….sometimes they do it quietly with a whisper at exactly the right moment and not with a scream….the changes they make are long-enduring….
The city of Murcia is situated in front of them falls you have a picture about!
Also another one you had is in Switzerland at the GSZ Stadium in Larnaka. Most of the people there are very friendly.
It was a little rainy in the Algarve but May will bring the flowers as people say.
I like seeing pics of places I go to for work in your blog!

Lee, thank you for the video with Steve Job addressing Stanford. I found it interesting and I totally agree, it is not all about money! It is about INNOVATION & 1% Genius and how they get villified, laughed at and ridiculed 100% of the time by the 99% who decides it is all about money! 🙂 I am glad you and I both agree that “Money can’t buy 1% Genius!” 🙂 Cecilia
